Birthdays in our family happen mostly towards the end of the year and for this card I am using a sketch from a challenge at Card Patterns. The cardstock is all DCWV and the stamps are CTMH! happy scrapping...

Mojo Monday
This card is my first based on a sketch from Mojo Monday - the base is cut from A Child's Year, bracket from Gypsy Wandering and other cuts from Forever Young. Papers are from DCWV Far East and ribbon is CTMH. What a great idea to get a card going although I didn't follow the sketch verbatim but I guess that's what it's all about - getting your mojo going!! happy scrapping...

Greeting Gift Card Holder
Well I am on a roll for sure!! I have spent the day creating Greeting Gift Card Holders for a craft fair I am doing with a friend in November. The idea for this came from Angie at My Chic'n Scratch and I made some minor modifications and created a DS file to do all the cutting which was a first for me!! I used a belly band instead of a ribbon to make them more unisex and user friendly to those who do not like to tie bows...
If you would like a copy of my DS file, please leave a comment and I will forward. happy scrapping!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
My family and I celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday - I had to work all day and so my middle son offered to cook dinner - can you imagine that!! I came home to family (except my youngest who lives too far away) and a lovely meal - life doesn't get much better. I am very thankful for the little things... This is the first card I have made using cuts with my cricut and I am pleased with how it turned out... happy scrapping!

Birthday Card
I did up this birthday card for someone special... It is always harder to make masculine cards - I guess because you don't want to add flowers or all those other seemingly feminine embellishments. Perhaps I'll make it a project to make one using flowers etc. happy scrapping!

Creations with Christina: World Card Making Day Challenge #1
What better way to re-enter the world of blogging than on World Card Making Day (somewhere it still is lol) and with a challenge! Thank you Christina for the inspiration! I am off tomorrow to help my girlfriend move into new digs and this card will be perfect although the colour is not quite right - should be all soft pinks - definitely need a new camera... happy scrapping!

Joyfold Card
I am always in search of different types of cards and found the directions on how to create this joyfold card at Shellys Images. Please go there and check out how easy it is to make! It gave me an opportunity to try out my new Martha Stewart scoring board which is quite lovely! happy scrapping...

Remembering
Today is also my parent's anniversary although they have been gone for many years I still think of them... I had done up this card for my son and his wife but never posted it... enjoy your day!
virtual scrapping
My girlfriend and I live quite a distance apart and don't seem to connect much anymore so we thought we'd try getting together to scrap virtually... it was a lot of fun and below is the result... there is a second page; however, I still have to print the pictures to go with... scrap happy!

Life is Good!
Yayyy, my first attempts at a stair step card and I like it! If you are interested, the instructions for making this type of card (which are fairly simple) can be found at SplitcoastStampers along with a lot of other cool ideas. For the silhouettes, I used my cricut and the A Child's Year cartridge. happy scrapping!

Happy Father's Day!
I loved the folded paper technique so much that I wanted to try creating my own pattern and a tie for Father's Day was the perfect opportunity. Hope you like...

Basic Training
My youngest son has completed his basic training and is now in Shilo, Manitoba. He was home recently to move all of his stuff out there with him. As a sort of homecoming I did up this layout for him from his days in St. Jean sur Richelieu. I included a piece of hidden journaling (tagged "army life") and had him complete it so that many years from now it will trigger many happy memories of this time in his life. happy scrapping...

Special Cards for Special People
I created these two cards for a couple of very special people. The dress card uses a folding technique I learned from Valita's Designs and Fresh Folds - if you have never done this, give it a go - you may become addicted! scrap happy...

It has been way too long...
I have been busy scrapping away, taking my pictures and then forgetting to post them lol
Here is a little of what I have been up to... Two of my sons are in the military, one army, one airforce... both of these layouts use CTMH papers (Grace and Bella). The cards were created because my eldest son was looking for a birthday card for his wife - so I made a few for him to choose from - his pic was the one with the butterfly; I am giving her the one with the frog on it... happy scrapping!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!
To celebrate National Scrapbooking month, Close to My Heart has a lovely 4 page layout set that can be purchased for as little as $5.00. Please click on the link to the right for all the details. My version of these layouts are shown below. I modified the size of the pictures to fit what I had already printed. these colours are such that they will go with just about any photos. You can simply use a colour from your photos as your accent colour to have them coordinate. In my case, I continued with the blue theme. Happy Scrapping!

Final Layout from Scrapfest Classes
Finally, here is the layout that was part of the "Layer it On" class I did including the cards below. As you can see we did indeed layer it on; however, it all looks great! These are the girls I scrapped with, two new friends and an old friend, Anne who also took the pictures. Thanks very much Anne - sorry though that my photography is not doing them any justice...

More Cleanup - More Cards!
I am persevering with trying to complete projects that have already been started. These cards were part of the class I did with Kelly Panacci at Scrapfest a couple of weeks back. They are different than I would normally make, but I think I like them especially the little hedge hog...

Spring Cards
With all the sunshine we have been having, it really does feel like spring... I went to a card-making session at my friend Jan's place a while back. She is also a CTMH independent consultant and she was showing how to take a Level 1 paper packet and create a set of quick and easy cards instead of doing up layouts. I used an old paper packet Best Friends Forever and a few embellishments. Who wouldn't like to receive one of these on their birthday? Scrap Happy...

Workshop on the Go - Veranda
I finally got around to completing the layout for the Workshop on the Go for the Veranda paperpack. I am always surprised by how easy it is to find complimentary pictures. I changed the size of the left picture and left out the stamping in the lower right (replaced with flower) but I think it is still well balanced. I love the simple lines of this layout. Have a terrific Wednesday!

Scrapfest !
I attended Scrapfest in Kitchener this past weekend - for those who do not know, this is a 2-day crop with a marketplace and classes - if you have the opportunity to attend something like this - DO!!! I met up with a friend and one of her friends and we all met a new friend and had a wonderful, wonderful time. I did a couple of classes, one with Vicki Boutin - "Easy, Detailed, Expert" and these are the layouts I made at the class. I promise I will repost once I have added my pictures but they were too pretty to wait! For those who are interested there will also be a fall Scrapfest in Oshawa this year. Do check it out.

My First Challenge!
Heart 2 Heart Challenges is a new blog sponsored and created by independent consultants for Close to My Heart and I have chosen to submit my first effort to their inaugural challenge! I am very excited about this and chose to create from my heart rather than from a pattern or something I have seen. I hope everyone likes it!! The challenge asked that you use the CTMH colours Sweet Leaf, Sunflower, and Chocolate. I also used CTMH Craft Buttons, Just Blooms, Organza Ribbon and the Felicty Stamp Set (D1418). Thanks for taking a peek.

Happy Easter!
Last Saturday I attended a crop for Heart and Stroke in Newmarket and one of the make and takes was this most adorable bunny card which I have just completed. It is my first attempt at using a water brush with my inks and I don't think it turned out half bad. At least my grandson won't notice where I messed up!! Please check out Jan Moxey's original card along with a just ducky one. Happy Scrapping...

Veranda Basics Card Workshop
I am doing a workshop to make these cards tonight - what a learning experience it has been! You know the old adage measure twice, cut once - well it doesn't just apply to carpentry... seems it also applies to cutting cardstock. Lesson learned but the results are quite nice don't you think? All materials are Close to My Heart with the exception of the flower jewels on the tag. I did some faux stitching on the square card and I don't think I like it but had to try it out. The scallops were made using a corner rounder. I found both the card and the how to's at Deneen's blog (you have to scroll down to March 4's entry). If you go there you will also discover where I messed up on my measurements. lol happy scrapping!
