Veranda Basics Card Workshop

I am doing a workshop to make these cards tonight - what a learning experience it has been!  You know the old adage measure twice, cut once - well it doesn't just apply to carpentry...  seems it also applies to cutting cardstock.  Lesson learned but the results are quite nice don't you think?  All materials are Close to My Heart with the exception of the flower jewels on the tag.  I did some faux stitching on the square card and I don't think I like it but had to try it out.  The scallops were made using a corner rounder. I found both the card and the how to's at Deneen's blog (you have to scroll down to March 4's entry).  If you go there you will also discover where I messed up on my measurements.  lol   happy scrapping!

You Rock Workshop on the Go Layout

When you attend a Workshop To Go you are able to either complete the set of 6 cards or you also have the option to complete the two page layout.  Whichever you don't complete, you still have the instructions and sufficient product to complete at home with enough leftovers to complete more layouts or cards of your own creating or follow the additional samples as shown in the book and online under "Workshops To Go".  Here is my version of the You Rock layout which I modified just a little bit.  All products are Close to My Heart except that I used my Cricut to cut the letters but they can also be stamped and cut out.  As mentioned on the right, I am holding this workshop on April 15th if you are interested in attending.  Happy Scrapping!

Custom Envelope

I came across this video on You Tube for making a custom envelope which I really liked because of its simplicity.  All you need to do is cut your paper or cardstock one inch larger than the diagonal measurement of your card and fold away.  I liked it - quick and easy.... take a look for yourself.

You Rock Cards

I have scheduled a Close to My Heart Workshop on the Go using the You Rock Paper Pack for April 15th.  Actually it was for March 30th but had to re-schedule.  I made up the cards for the Workshop and have to say that I like the shabby sheikness (sp?) of them with all of the distressed edges.  It is also nice that they can be used for either male or female recipients, young or old alike.  To see further details, please click on the link to the right.  happy scrapping!

lace card front - beautiful

I was on the Everyday Cricut blog the other day and saw a template from Diane (Capadia Designs) for how to cut this beautiful card base with Design Studio and couldn't resist trying it out. It truly makes the card don't you think?

caught with an oops...

I have been working on completing layouts this past week and was quite proud to post the layout of my son's Swearing In Ceremony to the Canadian Armed Forces on Facebook so he could take a look at it.  I am ashamed to say I got the date wrong!!  The Cricut Spatula came to the rescue - it is not only good for removing "cuttings" from the mat but also for removing "mistakes" from your finished layouts without making a mess.  Here is the corrected version...  Made with Close to My Heart's  Grace's Workshop on the Go products.

memory keeper - so many uses!

I was watching STAMP TV this morning and came across this wonderful project for a memory keeper.  The primary use is to hold your pictures either permanently or before you are ready to scrap them and the index card is the ideal place to jot a few notes you don't want to forget.  It also holds your handmade cards quite nicely and of course it makes a wonderful gift filled with pictures or cards.  The possibilities are as endless as your imagination.  Please check out the tutorial over on Stamp TV - you'll be glad you did!
I created mine using Close To My Heart black and olive cardstock and b&t paper from Bella; the ribbon is from the Holiday Collection Designer Ribbon Rounds.
