5 years deserves a special card...

My son Eric and his wife Michelle have been married for five years today and I wanted to make up a special card for them.  Typically I tend to stay in the same colour families when I make my cards and for this one I went all white using embossing to bring out some depth.  I think I have managed to express the feeling I wanted to convey!! The best part about their anniversary is that I get to have my grandson for a sleepover... happy scrapping...

Wedding Favour Box

My friend is getting married in July and I offered to make up these wedding favour boxes for her.  Initially I had offered to do up bride and groom boxes which were way more complicated and 300 boxes later I am really glad she went with this one!!  I used the Tie the Knot cartridge which surprisingly has some really nice boxes on it.  I had looked for paper to go with her wedding colour of cobalt blue and delphiniums which are in her bouquet and really couldn't find what I wanted at a price point that was affordable.  I did find a stamp that resembled the delphinium (sort of) and decided to stamp and ink the white cardstock instead.  I also scored each of the boxes.  As they are getting married in Newfoundland, I do not have to put the boxes together!  happy scrapping...

missing my boys...

My two younger boys are in the Armed Forces and both live out of town.  I don't get to see them very often although we do talk/text/skype all the time so I decided it was time to send off a card letting them know I was thinking of them.  Haven't done this for quite awhile so they will be (pleasantly) surprised.  I scraplifted the idea from Laurie at her blog Hiding in My Craft Room who was sending a card to her husband. I used the Boys will be Boys cart to cut the alien and Lyrical Letters for the sentiment which I welded together and am hoping I got the spelling right (can you imagine... lol ).  Everything is all scraps from my stash except the card bases which I had purchased in bulk.  Don't ya just love the googly eyes!   happy scrapping!!

simple birthday card

Awhile back I did up a simple friendship card using this same pattern... I finally found a fish stamp that would fit on the card although I did have to make my circles a little larger...  I love the pun and my friend is quite the fisherman so I think she will love it too... happy scrapping!

Scrap Your Axx Off - Round 4

Honestly, I have been doing other stuff besides this challenge at PaperSecrets!!  I thought this was due Thursday evening and I actually put it together in two hours including choosing the pictures... that is very good for me... however, I had forgotten that extra time was given for the challenge as it was posted late.  I used paper from Websters Pages and then used the following for the challenge - ribbon, border punch, chipboard, stamping and flowers.  These pictures were taken back in 1989 (I think) with Eric (on right) and Todd (on left) and their cousin Sean in the middle.  I should do a then and now page to show how much they have all changed!  ... happy scrapping!

Scrap Your Axx Off - Round 3

Just in the nick of time, I submitted this layout for round 3 of the Scrap Your Axx Off Challenge at PaperSecrets.  I had put it off and then got a cold and only submitted it with an hour or so to spare - just goes to show - never put off what you can do today!  I love doing these old pictures of my kids...  for this one I used papers that my friend Colleen picked up for me at Costco awhile back.  To fulfill the challenge criteria, I also used both a stamped and punched border, bling on the required chipboard circle and photo corners on the pictures...  happy scrapping!

birthday becomes just because becomes to have and to hold...

Since doing the must use rub-ons challenge, I have done a few more cards using predominantly rub-ons,  including this one, which started out as my sister's birthday card...  It wasn't going the way I wanted it to so I decided to do it up as a "just because" card instead.  Then as I was getting ready to stamp the sentiment, I started to think about how nice it would look as a wedding card.  Since Eric and Michelle were attending the wedding of one of their cousins, they were dropping off my grandson for a sleepover.  I asked if they would like a wedding card and to my delight the response was yes!  So from virgin cardstock to creation to a new home in under two hours - definitely a record... lol   Flowers were cut from a K & Co paper stack, ribbon is CTMH, rub-ons are from Hambly and the bling is from Dollarama.  happy scrapping!

a challenge to use at least 3 rub-ons

Over at Paper Secrets (again), one of the May challenges is to use a minimum of three rub-ons.  Well I decided to step it up and use only rub-ons and I really like how it turned out!  Unfortunately, the package didn't say whose they were but they were a dream to put on.  I did add several pearls to the flowers but didn't think it needed anything else...   happy scrapping!

why wear sneakers when you can wear boots!!

Alex, my youngest son always cracked me up because he refused to wear shoes as it was so much easier for him to just pop his feet into his boots - no laces!!  and that face... love him to death  :)   So for the details - I used this layout for the second challenge in Scrap Your Axx Off at Paper Secrets - paper is DCWV Summer Stack; flowers, brads and buttons from my stash; rub-ons from Daisy Bucket and dry embossing on my sun! The title font was cut from Boys will be Boys cricut cartridge.

hoppy birthday michelle!!

It is my daughter-in-law's birthday today and she loves frogs so I had to do up a card with a frog on it!!  I love the greeting... hehe   After taking the picture I added googly eyes which really brought froggie to life!  I couldn't find a lily pad flower so I created my own version that didn't turn out so bad at all. This is my first twisted easel card (used a tutorial by Mary at CardzTV) and it was surprisingly simple to make.  It's amazing how a little twist can add so much.   happy scrapping!!

tri-fold graduation card

Wow, two posts in one day... hehe...  I have been busy scrapping and wanted to share this tri-fold card I made based on a tutorial from Sheila at She's a Sassy Lady.  This is a really great blog for easy to understand and follow tutorials for your gypsy.  Typically, my preference is for larger cards but I do like the substance to this tri-fold which is 4.25" x 5.5" (or A2) in size.  I used Cricut's Locker Talk cart for the images and Gypsy Wanderings for the sentiment which was clear embossed so it would stand out more. The inside was finished with a white piece of cardstock for writing a note.  happy scrapping!

flowers for me!

I love flowers and ever since I saw the flower tutorial I used for this card, I have wanted to make a bouquet.   I found a tutorial for an origami flower (shown separately below) that is more three dimensional.  I used wooden sticks wrapped in floral tape for the stems, which I don't recommend as they have no flexibility but this was late at night and I wanted to finish them.  It would have looked far nicer if the stems had some bend!  ... oh well, next time ... happy scrapping!

challenge sketches - I think I like them!!

I am really liking doing challenge sketches and they sure have some good ones at Paper Secrets!  I may just get all of my pictures scrapped and still have time for cards and other projects...

This first layout was done for Challenge #1 in the Scrap Your Axx Off Challenge where you have to do a new challenge each week until there is only one person left!!  Could be a long, long time... lol.  For this one I used K & Company's Que Sera Sera paper (I think I own the entire collection!) and miscellaneous embellishments.  The challenge was to use the sketch and 5 of 10 listed embellishments - I used flowers, brads, buttons, misting, dry and heat embossing - it really was a challenge!

The second layout was done for the National Scrapbook Day Sketch Challenge and I am happy to say I won!!  ... although I do have to tell you that it was a random pick win but a win nonetheless... lol   The papers are from an old CTMH paper pack called Laid Back and the grass borders are from an old set of CTMH stickers (Rustic Trail).  I cut the title with my cricut - think it was the cindy loo cart but can't remember for sure - still not used to paying attention to these details.

National Scrapbooking Day Cards

I was very busy scrapping all last weekend (so what else is new... lol) participating in some challenges over at Paper Secrets.  It sure is a good way to get thinking outside the box...  In any case I needed to do up a couple of cards and they fit in with their challenges so it worked out perfectly!  If you are looking for challenges, they have some very interesting and challenging ones going on.... happy scrapping!!

The first challenge was to use ribbon, two pattern papers (mine are from My Minds Eye and American Crafts) and several embellishments (all from my stash). The stamp is from CTMH.

The second challenge was to use red, turquoise and white together.  Now I would never have put these colours together but I am quite pleased with how it turned out. The paper is Rouge de Garance from a monthly kit I bought and embellishments are from my stash.  The sentiment is a rub-on.
